Clavis Consulting Kft became the owners of the club as the pre-season came to an end. The local council of Szekesfehervar gave their aproval as they sold their share of the club to the new investors. Manager Aurel Csertoi together with coaches Zoltan Nemeth and Tibor Ulbert continued running first team affairs.

Plenty of movement in the playing squad

The team was strengthened in several areas. Youth team defender Viktor Vadasz made the step up to the first team squad. Midfielder Attila Simon arrived from Bekescsaba, Gabor Kocsis from Dunaujvaros. Ujpest duo Balazs Farkas and Peter Simek also linked up with the Fehervar club. David Disztl arrived from Szolnok.

Departures included defender Marcell Fodor. He did not accept the offer on the table and instead moved to Ujpest. Jozsef Magasfoldi moved on loan to Czech club Liberec on loan. Midfielder Zoltan Zold switched to nearby Felcsut, while David Szeker joined Tatabanya.

Excellent autumn season

Pre-season began with a friendly against Inter Bratislava that ended in a 0-0 draw. The red and blues swept aside Győr club Integral DAC with a 5-0 win. There was another big win over Felcsut, while Nagyszentjanos were thrashed 15-0.

The successful pre-season was followed by a very good autumn season. The opening game of the season resulted in a 1-0 win over FTC in Budapest. There was a single goal defeat at Diosgyőr, but the team then went on a run of 6 matches without defeat. Lovely wins against Honved (3-0), and a big win at the home of Vasas followed. Lombard Papa and REAC were both beaten 2-1, ZTE 1-0, Pecs 2-0 and Kaposvar 3-0.

Long time bogey side Debrecen put an end to that good run with a 2-0 win over the team from Fehervar. There were no further defeats in the remaining 5 games of the autumn season. 1-0 wins over both MTK and Tatabanya were paired together with 3 draws against Győr 2-2, Sopron 1-1 and Ujpest 1-1.

Promising pre-season for the spring season ahead

The majority owner of the club had confirmed towards the end of the year that Aurel Csertoi, Zoltan Nemeth and Tibor Ulbert would continue at the club until the summer of 2008.

The supporters were pleased to learn during the winter window that gifted midfielder Zsolt Dveri would be returning to the club together with defender David Mohl. Forward Ferenc Horvath was signed from DVTK, while another forward, Dajics Juszuf made the move from FK Zselezsnik.

Peter Simek moved to Temesvar, while Jozsef Magasfoldi switched on loan to Czech side Liberec. David Disztl and Norbert Bartyik joined Siofok, with Attila Simon also continuing his career with Diosgyőr ahead of the spring season.

The first friendly game was a home match against Vecses that ended in a 4-1 win. There was also a victory over Dunaujvaros. A promising performance was shown in the goaless draw against DAC. The friendlies were rounded off with a strong 12-1 win over Kozarmisleny and a 1-1 draw with Paks. The squad headed to Turkey and Antalya for their 10 day training camp. They played friendly games against international opponents before heading home and beating REAC 3-2.

A spring not to be ashamed of

The excellent autumn performance did not only bring hope to the management of the club but to the supporters as well. Although the opening game of the second half of the season finished in a draw with Ferencvaros, the new stadium floodlights made their debut in a 5-0 win over DVTK.

There was a 1-1 draw with Honved that followed, before a run of 3 consecutive wins: Vasas were beaten 1-0, Lombard by a 2-0 scoreline and a 3-1 win over REAC. The form then took a turn for the worse with a 1-1 draw against ZTE and a 1-0 win over Pecs, which was followed by defeats to Kaposvar and Debrecen. The last five games of the season saw the team remain unbeaten: a 1-0 win over MTK came on the back of a 4-1 victory against Tatabanya. Three good points were collected against Győri ETO in the 3-2 win and there was also a 2-2 draw with Sopron. The season came to an end with a 3-1 win away at Ujpest. That resulted in a third place league finish and a total of 64 points picked up.

Debrecen emerged champions with 68 points, which was 3 more than Ujpest on 65 points. Fehervar closed the season as mentioned above with 64 points.

Vidi are Hungarian cup winners for the first time

Fehervar joined the Hungarian cup at the round 2 stage in September. They were drawn against Kozarmisleny and won 3-2, before a next round win over Baktloranthaza 2-0. MTK were the opponents in the next round and the teams played out a 1-1 draw at the Sostoi, before a good 2-1 away win in Budapest to secure a place in the last eight.

The journey in the cup continued with Kaposvar next up. The first leg ended 2-1, before the two met again and Fehervar won 3-1 to make it 5-2 on aggregate and a place in the last four. Debrecen were the opponents in the semi-finals. Fehervar won 1-0 away in Debrecen and drew 2-2 in the home leg to make it through to the Hungarian cup final.

The 17th May 2006 was a historic day for the club and its supporters. Vasas were the opponents and the game ended in a 2-2 draw after 90 minutes. The final went into a penalty shootout and Vidi won 6-5 to lift the cup for the first time in the clubs history!
