We take a look back in time in games involving Vidi over the Easter period. There have been a total of 25 league matches played on this date as we look in more detail below.

Vidi Easter matches

In recent seasons when the NB I has consisted of 12 teams, there have not been matches over Easter. However, in the past, games over the Easter period were always memorable events. Since the formation of Vidi in 1941, there have been 25 times when league games have been played on Easter Sunday and there was even one that took place on the Monday. The 25 Easter matches have seen Vidi win 11, draw 6 and lose 8 games. 

Our first league game over Easter was played on the 25th April 1943 against county league II side Alba Regia AK III. That ended in a comfortable 12-1 win for the club, which was named Székesfehérvári MOVE VSK at the time. Our last game to take place over Easter was five years ago on the 5th April 2015. A goal from Filipe Oliveira was enough to give us a 1-0 win away at Ujpest. 

Our last Easter league game

Vidi travelled to the home of Ujpest FC five years ago. That was the last time that they played over the Easter period. The game was memorable for two players in particular. Istvan Kovacs played in his 100th NB I game, while Filipe Oliveira scored the winning goal. We spoke to our former Portuguese player over the phone, which can be read below. That match back in 2015 was played in front of 1295 supporters. Both keepers had to work early in the match to save efforts at both ends. Calatayud in the Vidi goal was the busier of the two. 

It was Vidi who took the lead after 37 minutes: Stopira sending a lovely ball in towards Oliveira, who managed to beat off Loic Nego to place the ball in the bottom left corner from 15 meters (1-0). 

Istvan Kovacs suffered a serious ankle injury at the end of the first half, which saw him having to league the pitch and go to hospital. Both keepers remained busy in the second period but there were no further goals. Oliveira's goal was enough to earn Vidi a 1-0 win. 

	Filipe Oliveira: "My memory of the game with Ujpest remains clear in my head. It was my goal that helped us win 1-0. Stopira and I always had a good understanding and the ball in was a lovely one, and I managed to beat Nego to the ball and finish off the move. It was never easy playing against Nego so I was pleased that he was my team mate the following season (laughter). It was an important game in the league season from the view of the league title. If we had not collected the 3 points, the situation at the top would have been much tighter. I remember the game being played on the Easter Sunday. I have played many games during my playing career on this date. This period was not about celebrating with my family while I was a professional player. This was one of the most important family celebrations while I was a kid. Ever since I have finished playing, I spend Easter together with my family. This year due to the worldwide epidemic, we have to spend Easter at home with our tightest family members. Just like in Hungary, for us here in Portugal, the lock down is very strict. We cannot leave our homes over the Easter period. This means that we cannot meet up with family members. This is a hard period for all of us but I hope that we can get back to normal in time.
