Ferencvaros ended last season in fifth place in the OTP league table. They won 13 of their games, drawing 10 and losing 7 over the course of the 2012/2013 campaign. The Budapest side scored 51 and conceded 36. Ricardo Moniz took over early last season following Ferencvaros' defeat in the big derby match at Ujpest. He replaced Lajos Detari on the bench, before beginning to build a good side. They exited the Hungarian cup early, going out in the second round. The green and whites sadly beat Videoton FC in the league cup final to lift the cup at the Sostoi.

Two Dutch players arrived at the club over the summer to strengthen the squad. Jack Tujip arrived from Volendam, while Arsenio Valpoort made the switch from Heerenven. Former Videoton defender Sandor Hidvegi left MTK to link up with Sunday's opponents, while Keeper Peter Kurucz was transferred from Siofok to Fradi. Their most recent signing was young Dominik Nagy from Pecs.

There were many departures over the summer including Aborah, Hakola, Klein, Martinus, Ranilov and probably Svab. Several journals have linked Real Madrid player David Mateos with a move to Budapest, with FTC managing director Pal Orosz currently out in Spain negotiating. Another player showing interest is Evander Sno. However Orosz has refused to confirm anything.

Ferencvaros played 7 friendly matches over the pre-season, winning 6 of those. They scored 19 and let in 7, with striker Daniel Bode scoring 9 goals in all. Ricardo Moniz' side won 2-1 away at Pecs in the opening weekend of the current season.
