PART 1: The new Hungarian international manager speaks to Vidi.hu
As the new international manager, you have yet to meet up with your entire squad. Is this true?
Yes, that is correct. Sadly, we will not have too much time, as we will be having our first joint training session on Monday. We will then play England on the Wednesday.
Since we are talking about the friendly with England, just how important the result will be from your point of view? Are we going to London to win, or are you focusing more on building your side and practicing tactics?
So-So. A Hungarian international side must always go into each match looking for the win. The result will always be important for us. At the same time a different style of football is equally as important.
You have mentioned previously that the present form of the players will be important. Have you called up those players who are currently in the best form?
We can say yes, but the truth is also that one or two players will be missing through injury. There are also players in the Olympic squad who I will be counting on later. I would also like to repeat what I have said previously. This international squad is open. Naturally the present form of players and the current fitness state as well as knowledge are what will always determine who gets called up. The majority of the current squad will feature in the European championship game in Sweden, in September.
You are fully aware of the current U21 squad. How will you be building the youngsters into the senior side?
This autumn is not the best time, as there is a good chance that in October, those youngsters will be needed for the Olympic side in their important qualification games. The U21 side may feature in a two legged play off game, if they finish among the 4 best second placed sides. I can see a very good chance of the Olympic side progressing through their group.
