Manager Gyorgy Mezey and his assistant Gabor Horvath made the journey over to Slovenia, from the Austrian training camp in Windischgarsten to watch Europa League opponents Maribor. The duo were joined by coach Balazs Beko, who watched the Slovenian side pay out a 0-0 draw with the Romanian outfit. Gyorgy Mezey spoke to Vidi.hu following the game:

"Maribor are a very strong side who play good football, and gave a good acount of themselves, as well as having a good team play." began the manager. "It seems as if they have been playing a good style of football for many years. The dealt difficultly with the unexpected chances and the way they responded to individual situations. Obviously you cannot drawn an overall conclusion after watching one match, and we will need to watch them again. If we can strengthen our side in one or two positions, then Videoton will have a realistic chance of progressing."
