The ninth day of the training camp in Croatia saw us play our fourth friendly match. This time we were up against Croatian champions and currentl league leaders Dinamo Zagreb. Manager Gabor Marton chose the following side: Kovacs - Fiola, Tamas, Rus, Stopira, Hangya - Nikolov, Houri - Funsho, Petryak – Zivzivadze.
It was Dinamo who began the game more aggressively and they enjoyed more of the ball in the opening 10 minutes, although we defended well. Vidi took the lead on 13 minutes when Oliver Tamas did well to slide in and win the ball inside the Dinamo box before bringing Zivzivadze into play, whose looping shot from 15 meters went over the keeper and into the back of the net (1-0). The Croatians won a free kick three minutes later and Orsic sent the resulting kick just wide of the target from around 23 meters out. Adrian Rus slid in to try and block in front of his own goal, but the referee judged that the ball had hit his hand and awarded a penalty. Orsic stood behind the ball and sent it into the bottom corner (1-1).
With almost 40 minutes played, Houri curled a free kick in front of the Croatian goal but Rus saw his header blocked by a defender. There was still time for a low ball in from Zivzivadze on 44 minutes, but it was parried by a Croatian defender and although it appeared to hit his hand, the match official did not award a penalty and the sides went in at the break with the score at 1-1.
Visar Musliu came on for Oliver Tamas at half time. The first real chance of the second period came after 56 minutes when Adrian Rus played a lovely one-two and shot at goal from 17 meters out, but the Dinamo keeper manager to get a hand to it and pull off a smart save. Further changes were made on the hour mark as Zivzivadze, Rus, Houri, Petryak and Kovacs were all replaced by Nikolic, Dardai, Kovacs, Geresi and Tordai. Dinamo won a free kick on 78 minutes. Petkovic made no mistake as his curling effort found its way into the bottom right corner to make it 2-1. Funsho had a strike on goal a minute later from around 18 meters out, but it flew over the bar. Fiola saw yellow for the second time after 81 minutes as Vidi were reduced to ten men for the remainder of the game.
Geresi had a chance near the end but he could not find the target. Funsho showed good skill on 83 minutes while the final chance of the friendly came for Dinamo through a Majer shot that went over from 15 meters.
Vidi will play their final friendly of the training camp on Saturday against Osijek.
