We played our second friendly match of the winter pre-season against Austrian first division side Sturm Graz, who are currently in second place in their league. The game was played in Funtana and Gabor Marton fielded the following side: Rockov - Fiola, Rus, Stopira, Hangya - Alef - Pinto, Houri - Petryak, Nikolic, Funsho.
The first chance arrived after 6 minutes for the opponents. Hierlander shot at goal from 22 meters, which was comfortably dealt with by Rockov. Not long after and Alef had to limp of the pitch and was unable to continue with the game. Nikolov came on to replace him. The first goal arrived after 14 minutes and sadly it was not at the right end: A set piece resulted with the ball finding it's way to Mwepi, who from 10 meters found the bottom right corner (0-1).
The middle of the first half saw the first chance for Vidi. There were 23 minutes played when Petryak received a good ball and he sent a powerful shot from the right towards goal, but it was collected by the Austrian keeper. Three minutes later and Nikolic shot at goal from 15 meters, which Schutzenauer saved. Petryak found himself with a chance on goal but he shot wide.
Fiola fed Nikolic with the ball after 30 minutes and the Vidi team captain shot at goal from 17 meters, but again the keeper was in the right place to deal with it. Despite Vidi having chances, it was Sturm who doubled their lead close to half time: Mwepu passing to Jantschernek, who from 14 meters out found the bottom left corner (0-2).
There was still time for a Houri free kick to pick out Stopira, who headed over from a tight angle. The referee blew for half time with the score at 2-0.
Half time saw keeper Daniel Kovacs come on in place of Rockov. He was busy straight away as he saved a long range shot from Zettl. However, he could do nothing after 52 minutes when Lang pounced to powerfully volleyed to find the back of the net (0-3).
Hangya curled a free kick four minutes later from 18 meters at goal. The Graz keeper tipping the ball over from under his bar. Funsho shot wide of the bottom right from 17 meters while Houri sent his free kick into the wall and out for a corner. There were several changes made after 63 minutes by Gabor Marton: Kovács - Fiola, Tamás, Musliu, Zeke - Nyári, Nikolov - Géresi, Kovács, Halmai - Zivzivadze all coming on.
Geresi had a low shot saved by the keeper after 64 minutes while Kovacs dealt with an effort from Zettl on 68 minutes. Kovacs did well to play in Geresi a minute later, who showed good movement before lifting the ball above the keeper, but the ball was cleared off the goal line by a defender. Vidi managed a consolation goal close to the end: Zivzivadze releasing Halmai down the wing, whose low ball into the middle was met by the arriving Szabo, who made no mistake from close range (1-3).
The final whistle went and Graz won the friendly game 3-1. Vidi are next in action on Tuesday afternoon with a game against Croatian second division side HNK Orijent.
