Vidi were back in OTP League action on Sunday following Thursday's Europa League away game with Chelsea in London. Sixth in the table MTK were the visitors at the Pancho Arena. Keeper Tomas Tujvel was handed a shirt with 100 NB I appearances by director of football Zoltan Kovacs before the game. Captain Roland Juhasz was also rewarded for his 250th combined NB I appearances, which was made up of 143 for Vidi and 107 for MTK, who were his previous club.
The game started off fairly balanced with the first chance arriving on 11 minutes. Nikolov got hold of the ball and played it on to Kovacs, who played in Scepovic, with the forward finding Stopira to his left, but his shot on goal was collected by the visiting MTK keeper. Gera released Bognar on 19 minutes, whose powerful shot from a tight angle hit the left post of Tujvel's goal. MTK took the lead three minutes later: Selin went into the box and crossed under pressure from Nego, with Gera arriving well to connect with the ball and find the back of the net (0-1).
There were 30 minutes on the clock when Bognar lifted the ball in front of goal following a throw in. The visitors extended their lead after 36 minutes when Schafer got hold of the ball and played in Selin, who found Kanta, and the MTK captain sent a powerful and accurate shot into the bottom right corner (0-2). The two teams went in at the break with the Budapest side having a two goal advantage.
A cross from Stopira in the 52nd minute saw Nikolov in between the two MTK defenders, but his powerful shot went straight at Kychak in the visiting goal. It was a massive chance for the red and blues. A Milanov corner 5 minutes later rebounded off Juhasz and Scepovic controlled it before turning on goal and shooting from 6 meters, but again Kychak was in the right place. There was hardly a minute that went by before Juhasz rose to meet a Milanov corner, but the header bounced over the bar. Scepovic cut inside after 61 minutes before hitting a shot from 18 meters, which was punched clear by Kychak. A Nego cross 4 minutes later found Hodzic clear but his header from 12 meters went just wide. Vidi put MTK under pressure in the second half but missed the biggest chances that came their way.
That was not the case at the other end as MTK increased their lead on 71 minutes. Selin got hold of the ball and his cross came back of Juhasz and into the path of Bognar, who found the bottom left corner to make the score 0-3. There was still time for the MTK keeper to pull of another good save with 10 minutes left. Stopira headed from 7 meters, but Kychak again got down to deny him.
That was the final chance of the match and there was no further change to the score. Vidi are next in action on the 20th October when they travel to Haladas in the OTP league.
