Stefan Scepovic joins Videoton FC

The 28 year old Serbian forward joins from Spanish first division side Getafe.

Videoton FC have signed their fourth player of the winter window. Tomas Tujvel, Szabolcs Huszti, Boban Nikolov have been joined by Stefan Scepovic. The forward was most recently on loan from Getafe at fellow Spanish side Sporting Gijon.

The 28 year old forward, who is the brother of Marko Scepovic, was born in Belgrade and came through the Partizan youth system. He signed at a young age for OFK Belgrade and in 2008, at the age of 18 made his debut for their senior side. He then played for several clubs in the years that followed. Season 2013-14 saw him move to Spanish second division side Sporting Gijon, and he went on to play in 39 league games, with 23 goals and 9 assists. That saw Stefan finish second highest goalscorer that season. It was in 2016 that he moved to Madrid club Getafe, before another loan move to Sporting Gijon. He has played in the Serbian, Italian, Belgium, Israeli, Scottish and Spanish first division and in total has scored 62 goals in 141 league games.

"I have come to Vidi to perform to my best and help the team with goals, which will hopefully see us win the league. I do not want to talk about my strengths, as that is not my job to deal with this. That is down to the coaches and the supporters to see. All I want to do is give my best and if I can do this, then it will be to the advantage of the team. I have spoken a lot with my brother regarding the club, the targets, facilities and other aspects. That played a very big part in making up my mind. It has been a difficult period for me recently, but I am sure that I can perform to a high standard with Videoton FC, which I know I am capable of." - commented new signing Stefan Scepovic.

"We wanted to strengthen our forward line as we were short of numbers in that area. We have managed to sign a player like Stefan Scepovic, who at the age of 28 has a serious playing career already behind him, including for foreign clubs. He has plenty of international experience. If he can score as many goals and give as many assists as his brother, than the supporters and the club will be very happy. I hope that the two brothers will bring the best out of each other. Marko's personality and his success at this club made this transfer easier to achieve. However, it is not because of him that we have chosen Stefan, as the chance to sign him last year was possible." - commented Director of Football Zoltan Kovacs.
