Memorable games from Vidi's past

Heavy rain had made the pitch very slippy ahead of the game. Manager Mihaly Lantos started with the same side that a few days earlier had beaten Ferencvaros 3-0. There was a real big match atmosphere, not only in the stands among the supporters but also in the dressing room before the game. It was Vidi that started with a quicker tempo and created several chances inside the opening 10 minutes. The first goal arrived on 18 minutes. Nagy took the ball towards goal, before eventually bouncing at the feet of Burcsa, who controlled it well and sent a good shot into the back of the net. Vidi continued to press the gas pedal and Burcsa played in Szabo after 25 minutes, who calmly finished the move off. Kovacs took a free kick from 20 meters minutes later. The ball eventually nestled in the back of the Dozsa net. Further second half goals from Tiber, who scored a hatrick inside 8 minutes made the score 6-0 afte 54 minutes. Toth was sent off after 49 minutes but the visitors, who were down to 10 men did not give up. Fazekas was among the scorers as the lilacs hit four goals in this 10 goal thriller.

1988 - 3-1-es Vidi success against close neighbours

NB I 1988/1989 -  match 14.
Veszprém, Att: 7000
Saturday 19th November 1988
Veszprém - Videoton 1-3 (1-2)
Goalscorers: Kiss L. (40') ill., Petres (25', 42'), Jován (72')

Veszprém: Markó - Sántha, Bimbó, Szécsi - Bognár, Csomai (Mónos 76'), Csongrádi, Kelemen - Udvardi (Süle 65'), Kiss L., Rugovics
Manager: Glázer Róbert
Videoton: Petry - Végh, László, Németh Z. (Novath 80'), Horváth G., Máriási, Csucsánszky, Emmer, Petres, Jónás (Földes 78'), Jován
Manager: Kaszás Gábor

Many Vidi supporters followed the team to Veszprem in this league game back in 1988. The pitch was far from perfect with the players not only having to battle against each other but also the elements. The first action arrived after 25 minutes when Csucsanszky passed to Petres, who scored a nice goal from 16 meters. The home side scored an unexpected goal just before half time. Veszprem did not celebrate for too long as Vidi restored the lead within 2 minutes. Mariasi sent in a cross that was flicked on by Jovan, and into the path of Petres, who made no mistake from 12 meters out. Vidi played superior football in the second half. Jovan and Jonas combined nicely after 72 minutes, with Jovan eventually finishing off the move with a goal to make the final score 1-3.

2011 - Siofok are hit for seven

NB I 2011/2012 -  match 13.
Székesfehérvár, Sóstói Stadium Att: 1896
Saturday 11th November 2011
Videoton FC - Siófok 7-0 (2-0)
Goalscorers: Oliveira (41'), Alves (45', 83', 86'), Sándor (61'), Nikolics (80', 87')

Videoton FC: Bozovic - Brachi, Vinícius, Caneira, Hector - Oliveira (Gosztonyi 69'), Sándor (Nikolics 66'), Tóth B., Mitrovics, Walter Lee (Vasziljevics 81'), Alves
Manager: Paulo Sousa
Siófok: Milinte - Mogyorósi, Lengyel, Nyári, Kiss Zs. - Haraszti, Kecskés (Horváth A. 82'), Bali (Bozovic 63'), Tusori, Szabó J., Sowunmi (Huszák 63')
Manager: Horváth Károly

Paulo Sousa returned to his normal line-up following the league cup game. Alves started as a lone striker, with Nikolic on the bench. Mladen Bozovic started in goal for the first time although few were counting on him having to save a Vidi side against lowly Siofok. Hector returned to the side with Oliveira switching to the right side. The majority of Videoton moves came down the right but they found it hard to break down a well organised visiting defence. First half goals from Oliveira and Alves sent the home side in at the break with a 2-0 lead. Further second half goals from Sandor and two each from Alves and Nikolic, not only gave Vidi a 7-0 win but Alves netted 3 goals.

This high scoring win came exactly four year and three months after another seven goal win at the Sostoi. That came back in August 2007 with Tatabanya suffering at the hands of Videoton.
