Looking at earlier match reports of the game, a massive amount of rain fell on the pitch at Pecs, which only added to it becoming very deep and muddy and not ideal for the 43rd game between Pecs and Vidi.

A surprise by the home manager was the exclusion of experienced keeper Imre Rapp, who had almost 300 NBI games to his name. Perhaps the fact that he had let in 10 goals in the previous two league games played a part. Jankovics took his place and he did not disappoint. The Nemzeti Sport journal recalls how manager Ferenc Kovacs used tactics and a certain formation, which had previously earned success for Inter. He played a sweeper system with four defenders in front of the sweeper, and two in midfield with three forwards. It brought a win away from home for Videoton as a result.

The Fehervar side allowed the home side to attack into spaces, but the defenders tried to release the forwards quickly when ever they gained possession. The game was not settled by a forward, but a defender in the form of Fejes who scored the only goal of the game after 35 minutes. It was a very powerful shot from 25 meters that secured the victory.

23 years earlier saw Videoton play against Stadler FC for the first time. The game took place in season 1994/95 in the first game of that campaign. The game was postponed until October as a result of Parmalat going on a tour of Brazil. It was a game of life and death for the team with 6 key players missing through either injury or suspension. Parmalat's new manager, Karoly Szabo revealed before the game that we would use three forwards and try to close down the opponents all over the pitch as there was nothing to lose. 

The breakthrough and lead arrived after just 23 seconds: Norbert Toth sent a cross in for Ferenc Horvath to head home. The goal was a setback for the visitors but also a surprise for the red and blues. Both sides made several mistakes and very little was seen on the pitch from what both managers had planned. Parmalat added two further goals to secure a 3-0 deserved win.

Videoton went into the game with Kecskemet in good form 7 years ago. They had opened the season with 5 wins in a row going into the league game on the 23rd October. The home side took a surprise lead after 20 minutes with Nemedi scoring from a penalty. Hardly 10 minutes passed before a pass from Sandor found Alves who scored the equaliser. It was the Brazilian forward's sixth consecutive game that he scored in. That equaled an earlier record set by Jozsef Szabo and Gyozo Burcsa almost 30 years earlier. The second half was saw Vidi race ahead with goals from Alves, Polonkai and Nikolic although KTE did score a consolation goal. There was never any threat to Vidi winning and it was also deserved based on the 90 minutes. It was the sixth win in a row to cement the place at the top of the table in a season that would end with the first league title.
