Gergely Szots was born on the 18th December 1981 and is a financial manager when he is not officiating matches. He took his refereeing badge before working his way through the lower leagues of Budapest football, where he gained experience. His rise continued with him refereeing in division three games and youth matches. His good performances gained him recognition, and he was in control of his first divison two game in 2008, when Dunaujvaros faced Baja. He moved a step up and made his debut in the NB1 in the Papa - Paks 0-0 match on the 3rd August 2012. He was also part of the match official team that was involved in the midweek away 4-1 win at Paks.
He was part of the professional group of referee's in the summer of 2016 and has been regularly officiating first division matches since. His 21 NB1 games have seen him hand out 78 yellow and 6 red cards. He will be assisted by Tamas Markus and Balazs Szert with the fourth official being Gabor Varga.
