Monicomp league leaders Videoton, will play their first pre-season friendly on Saturday. Serbian side FK Spartak Zlatibor Vodat, will be the opponents in a match that will kick off at 13:30pm. Technical Manager Endre Varga would have laughed at anyone, even a year ago, as well as beyond that, who would have told him that the main pitch would be in top condition in mid January. However, this is the fact and tomorrow's friendly looks set to be played on a lovely surface. 

"We will be entertaining the Serbian side on the main pitch, which is in a perfect state at the moment." - confirmed Endre Varga. "The new pitch that was laid over the summer has proved a big success, and there is very little that needs to be done to it despite it being mid January. You cannot put in any grass seed between September 30th and the start of April. Our task is to constantly keep an eye on the pitch to make sure everything is OK. The good weather of late has also played a small part in the pitch being as good as it is. The drainage system has also helped, and the rain that has fallen on the pitch, nicely went through it, making the pitch nice. We would have a job on if it were to start snowing. However, we have only had that once so far this winter. I learned around 30 years ago in my biology class, that a blanket of snow was good for the ground. However, this is not the case for the pitch, and snow causes damage to a pitch if it is not removed. The truth is that the snow should be removed as soon as possible to avoid any potential damage to the pitch. So everything is in place for Gyorgy Mezey's side to entertain the football hungry supporters."
