Gyereksarok336Sándor György – bár Ungváron, azaz Kárpátalján született, a magyar mellett az ukránt is anyanyelvként beszéli – egész családja szolgálta a klubot annak legújabbkori történelmében. Gyuri előtt az édesapja, Sándor István pályaedzőként, Sztjopának becézett, szintén István keresztnevű öccse pedig játékosként volt klubunknál.
Az 1984. március 20-án született Gyuri Zuglóban, a BVSC-ben nevelkedett, majd 2001-ben igazolt Újpestre. A lilákon kívül – a fiókcsapatnak számító Fót mellett – a Győri ETO-ban futballozott, a 2004-2005-ös szezonban. A hazai élvonalon kívül külföldön is játszott, 2008 tavaszán az angol Plymouth Argyle, majd a 2008-2009-es szezon második felében a bolgár Liteksz Lovecs játékosa volt. 2009 őszén ismét az Újpestben játszott, a lila-fehérektől szerződött a Vidihez.
Előbb bajnoki ezüstérmes, majd bajnok, kétszer újra ezüstérmes, aztán másodszor is bajnok lett a Vidinél (valamint kétszeres Szuperkupa-győztes, kétszeres Magyar Kupa-ezüstérmes is), ezzel a klubtörténet legsikeresebb játékosai közé emelkedett - főleg, hogy 2012 tavaszától a csapatkapitányi karszalag is rajta feszült. Mindemellé óriási szerepet vállalt az Európa Liga-menetelésben is, ottani teljesítményének köszönhetően fél évre az arab világba, az Al-Ittihadhoz került kölcsönbe. Távozását követően Ausztráliában futballozott, aztán a Puskás Akadémiába tért vissza.
A magyar válogatottban 2006. november 15-én Kanada ellen, éppen Sóstón mutatkozott be. Sándor György – bár Ungváron, azaz Kárpátalján született, a magyar mellett az ukránt is anyanyelvként beszéli – egész családja szolgálta a klubot annak legújabbkori történelmében. Gyuri előtt az édesapja, Sándor István pályaedzőként, Sztjopának becézett, szintén István keresztnevű öccse pedig játékosként volt klubunknál.
Az 1984. március 20-án született Gyuri Zuglóban, a BVSC-ben nevelkedett, majd 2001-ben igazolt Újpestre. A lilákon kívül – a fiókcsapatnak számító Fót mellett – a Győri ETO-ban futballozott, a 2004-2005-ös szezonban. A hazai élvonalon kívül külföldön is játszott, 2008 tavaszán az angol Plymouth Argyle, majd a 2008-2009-es szezon második felében a bolgár Liteksz Lovecs játékosa volt. 2009 őszén ismét az Újpestben játszott, a lila-fehérektől szerződött a Vidihez.
Előbb bajnoki ezüstérmes, majd bajnok, kétszer újra ezüstérmes, aztán másodszor is bajnok lett a Vidinél (valamint kétszeres Szuperkupa-győztes, kétszeres Magyar Kupa-ezüstérmes is), ezzel a klubtörténet legsikeresebb játékosai közé emelkedett - főleg, hogy 2012 tavaszától a csapatkapitányi karszalag is rajta feszült. Mindemellé óriási szerepet vállalt az Európa Liga-menetelésben is, ottani teljesítményének köszönhetően fél évre az arab világba, az Al-Ittihadhoz került kölcsönbe. Távozását követően Ausztráliában futballozott, aztán a Puskás Akadémiába tért vissza.
A magyar válogatottban 2006. november 15-én Kanada ellen, éppen Sóstón mutatkozott be. Korábban is volt már bajnoki ezüstérmes (az Újpesttel, 2006-ban és 2009-ben), valamint a Liteksszel megnyerte a Bolgár Kupát.
