1081Az öccséhez, klubunk későbbi játékosához, Földes Gáborhoz hasonlóan bajai születésű István 1988-ban, mindössze 18 esztendős korában debütált a Vidiben egy Veszprém elleni bajnokin Kaszás Gábor alatt.

A következő fellépésére 1990-ig várni kellett, abban az idényben 20 meccsen 8 gólig jutott, majd a további 25 találkozó alatt két éven át 3-ig. Később a már Horváth Ferenccel felvértezett csapattól távozott, méghozzá előbb az ETO-hoz, majd Siófokra. Ezután megfordult Kaposváron és Sopronban is, de vissza-visszatért a Balaton partjára - már csak azért is, mert az 1998-99-es idényt Balatonlellén töltötte.
