MOL Fehérvár FC's Loic Nego played an important role in the Hungarian national team's 1-0 victory over England on Saturday night, as he was on the pitch throughout the game against the 2021 European Championship finalists.

"It's always a good feeling to win, regardless of the opponent, but of course it adds to the value of yesterday's success that we beat England after 60 years and 10 matches without a win. It was a wonderful experience, but we don't have much time to celebrate as we have three more very difficult matches coming up, the first of which is in Italy in just two days' time," Nego told our website.

Loic came close to scoring twice in the first half against England: in the 13th and 37th minute he delivered a precise pass from the right, but Dominik Szoboszlai, who later scored the winning goal from a penalty, could not get the ball into the net.

"These substitutions were part of our tactics, everyone has a role to play in matches and we knew that against an opponent like this, with the best players in Europe, it would be very difficult to dominate and create situations, but we did it! To do that we had to play our best, we went out with the intention of winning against England, we didn't even think about a draw."Nego, now a 21-time Hungarian national team player, stressed that Saturday's match was a life-changing experience for the 30,000 children under 14 who cheered in the Puskás Arena.

"The kids created a great atmosphere, we could hear their cheers throughout the game, which meant a lot to us. I'm really happy that they were there in the stadium because it was a game they won't forget."
