In the last match of the season, our team hosted Paks FC at the MOL Arena Sósto on Saturday evening. Before the match, we welcomed our women's team, which had secured the gold medal in the Women's NB II Western Group, and Ottó Gömöri, who celebrated his 60th birthday on the 5th May, kicked off the match. Regardless of the result of the match, our team knew they would finish in 4th place in the OTP Bank Liga, but Michael Boris did not rotate the squad, the eleven of Kovács D. - Rus, Stopira, Shabanov - Nego, Pinto, Makarenko, Dárdai, Fiola - Kodro, Nikolic started the match.
The match started with a Windecker shot in the 2nd minute, and five minutes later Nego's cross was flicked at goal by Dárdai, but Rácz was able to save. In the 15th minute Gyurkits gave the visitors the lead, the young player scored from 14 metres into the far top corner (0-1). We didn't have to wait long for a reply, because although Nikolic' header was saved by Rácz in the 18th minute, in the 24th minute Kodro's 13-metre shot went past the Paks goalkeeper - it was the Bosnian striker's 15th goal in the NB I (1-1)!
After the equaliser, the game continued with two big Vidi chances: in the 27th minute Makarenko gave a good ball to Kodró, who shot from 14 meters, Rácz kept it out with great save, and then the Paks goalkeeper again was alert when he saved Nikolic' 13-meter attempt with his foot. In the 39th minute, Bálint Szabó's shot from close range was saved by Kovács, and before the half-time break, Ádám Martin's 14-metre shot was saved by our goalkeeper. The referee allowed the corner, and in the third minute of extra time János Szabó headed into the goal from inside the box (1-2).
A minute after the goal, Pinto's season ended, and our Portuguese midfielder was replaced by Lednev. In the 77th minute Sajbán was in a great position but the ball bounced off his hands, so even if he had found the goal it would not have been a valid goal. In the 85th minute Kodro and Dárdai were replaced by Bese and Hangya. The scoreline remained unchanged until the end of the match, ending the 2021/2022 season with a 2-2 draw.
