Debrecen are the visitors on Wednesday evening as they battle to avoid the drop

Debrecen are battling hard to make sure they are not one of the two sides that will be relegated at the end of the current season.

Seven times league champions DVSC visit the MOL Arena Sosto on Wednesday evening. Our opponents are not fighting for a place in the top three, but to avoid relegation. With four games to go in the season, Loki find themselves in 11th place with 32 points, while 10th placed Paks are on 34. Debrecen recently changed their manager with former successful manager Elemer Kondas taking over just before their league game with Ujpest. He is their third manager of the season after both Andras Herczeg and Zoltan Vitelki both sat in the dugout earlier on. Elemer’s first game in charge saw them suffer a 3-1 loss to Ujpest before a 2-2 home draw against Puskas Academy. We have already beaten Debrecen 2-1 at home this season and the two sides shared a 1-1 draw away. Loki’s top goalscorer is Nigerian forward Adeniji Babatunde with 9 goals so far this season. DVSC have also conceded the most goals after Kaposvar with 55 going in over 29 games.

Wednesday's game will be the 80th NBI match between the two clubs. We enjoy a better overall record with 33 wins, 16 draws and 30 defeats. The goal difference sees DVSC having the advantage of 109-105. Our record at home is much better with 25 of the 41 league games having been won with 8 drawn and 8 losses.
