We continue to look back on the early months of the current season. It was also a month that saw the tragic loss of club legend Gabor Horvath.

The month of September included four games for Vidi. Two league games, a Hungarian Cup match and a friendly fixture. The beginning of the month saw a visit to Gyirmot on a Friday. A practice game against second division opponents was organised. There were four goals in the match with three of them going to the team from Fehervar. They led 2-1 at the break thanks to goals from Juhasz and Nego. Akos Elek would add a further goal in the second half to make it 3-1 at full-time.
A tough away league game was next against Honved in Budapest. The match was played at the MTK stadium as a result of the new stadium currently being built by Honved. It was a close game as Vidi looked to extend their 100% record in the OTP league. It seemed as if the match would be heading towards a 0-0 draw when Armin Hodzic pounced to put the ball into the back of the net. It sent the travelling supporters into delight who had filled the visiting section in impressive numbers.
Next was the Hungarian Cup as Vidi looked to begin their run in a competition they had won a season earlier. Eger SE were pulled out at the draw and it meant a trip east for the players. It proved to be another high scoring game with the third division side leading at half time. It was a strange game that kicked off at 11.45am making it a challenge for the Vidi fans to turn up to. The red and blues scored four times in the second 45 minutes. Goals from Hodzic, Futacs and a double by Nikolov put the team into the next round thanks to a 4-2 victory.
The final game of September ended in a home defeat against Ujpest FC. A surprising loss on paper against the side from Budapest. A very good crowd of over 5000 were inside the MOL Arena Sosto but it proved to be a frustrating evening for all concerned. Onovo and former Vidi forward Feczesin scored late on to give the lilacs all three points. In yet another disappointment for Vidi, Szabolcs Huszti had to be taken off with a serious injury that would put him out of action for months.
The month of September also saw the loss of club legend Gabor Horvath. He had played in many game for Vidi in defence and was part of the UEFA Cup side that made it to the final in the mid 80's. He would later go on to work for the club in various positions. His final job saw him working in the clubs new museum. There was a minutes silence before the kick off of the Ujpest game in his honour.
