UEFA to suspend summer European Championships

The current Coronavirus situation means changes are taking place on a daily basis.

The 16th European Championships were due to take place in the summer. However, this competition will be postponed due to the Coronavirus. The decision was taken on Tuesday by UEFA, but it could be sensed in advanced that the hosting of the summer event would not be possible.

The European Championships now look likely to take place a year later in 2021. Hungary need to win two play-off games to be able to take part. The decision also offers the possibility that the suspended domestic leagues may be completed over the summer. The same applies to both the Champions League and Europa League finals, which could also be played out.

Various dates of future games may also be changed. Matches like the U21 EC, which was due to be hosted by Hungary and Slovenia and effect the MOL Arena Sosto. The final itself is due to be played there together with three group games.
