Videoton FC further strengthened their squad with a new player following the earlier arrivals of Tomas Tujvel and Szabolcs Huszti. The third winter transfer arrival is Boban Nikolov, who has been a Vardar player since 2015. 

The midfielder was born in Macedonia in 1994 and played for local teams until 2010. He then moved to the famous Gheorghe Hagi Academy in Romania. He made his debut in 2013 in the first division and made 33 league appearances for Viitorul Constanta. He moved back to Macedonia in the summer of 2015 and helped Vardar Skopje to three league title successes. Boban's biggest success to date was not in the domestic league, but on the European stage: His side knocked out in the summer Swedish side Malmo in the qualification round, before finding Danish team Köbenhavn to tough a challenge. His former side also defeated Fenerbahce as they made it through to the group stage. Nikolov played in all of the European games and has scored 10 league goals during his career. He also scored against both Malmo and the Copenhagen side.

One of the key decisions in making the move to this club was the project that was described to me, which I found attractive. It did not take me too long to make the decision. We did really well over the autumn with Vardar Skopje, making it through to the Europa League group stage, which as a young player was a great feeling. I am sure that this will not be the final time in my career that I play in the group stage. We will have more chance of making it to that European stage in Szekesfehervar" - commented Boban Nikolov.

"Our aim was to further strengthen the midfield and to increase competition in this area. Boban Nikolov has been on our radar for a while now and we have followed his career. He has picked up experience on the international stage and is also a full international in his country. He has the potential to continue to develop and improve. He has played in Champions League qualifiers and in the Europa League group stage last year. Although several clubs wanted to sign him, I felt throughout negotiations that he wanted to sign for Vidi" - commented Zoltan Kovacs, director of football.
