Before we begin to talk about the season summary, we would ask you to comment about the latest news regarding the departure of Henning Berg.

As many from the club have already mentioned over recent days, the 2016/17 season was generally one of disappointment. We were knocked out of the Hungarian cup in the autumn against third division opponents. We also did not manage to win the first division title. We communicated from the start of the season that the strength of the squad meant that the expectations of the club was to win the league title. It is true that we had a chance of doing this right up to the final match. However, we did not manage to do this. My own feeling is that we should have won the league a few games earlier. However much the team may have developed in many respects over the last year, we have made the decision to thank the manager for his work, but that it would be best to continue with someone else. Henning Berg was very correct in the negotiations, and both feel that this is the best decision in this situation, which is why we were able to mutually go our separate ways. 

- Who will be his successor and when is he expected to arrive? 

I would like to make the new appointment as quickly as possible. The first training session is due to take place on the 8th June. I am hopeful that we will find the most suitable person for the new post by then. Once we can make a concrete announcement, we will do that via vidi.hu website. 

- How would you sum up the season that has just ended?

We were pleased last year when we finished second in the table, but it is a disappointment for us this year. Our target was not a secret to win the league. Being knocked out of the Hungarian Cup at an early stage was also disappointing, and frankly speaking is not acceptable. However, not winning the league title is even more painful than our cup exit. We deserved to have perhaps won the league based on the overall performance of the season. Although the same applies to Budapest Honved and I would like to congratulate them!

- We scored the most amount of goals and conceded the least. Danko Lazovic was voted player of the season in Hungary. How would you describe the performances of the players?

The players performed well and there were also some very good individual performances also. I felt the team played very well in several matches, and we managed to please the supporters in many games. We always tried to play attacking football, which is back up by the statistics. But, and here is the big but, it did not win us the league title. This means that we need to make a change somewhere and make sure next season goes better. The good news is that our targets have not changed and our ambitions are not less. 

- We will begin in the Europa League at the end of June. Although the draw will take place on the 19th June, and we still do not know our opponents in the Q1 round, what is the target for the team on the European stage?

The target is to perform better on the international stage than we did last summer. We made it to the Q3 stage last year, before being knocked out. Although we did perform well against the Danish side. I feel that the team is now more ahead than was the case this time last year, but we have to confirm this on the pitch.

- Just as is normal at this time of the year, the supporters are very interested to know about the changes to the playing squad. Which players will be leaving and who could be arriving in the near future?

It is certain that there will be changes but it is too early to talk about these. There are still several open issues, but the moment that we can communicate anything officially, we will do that.

- What can we know about the summer pre-season period?

We will have a 10 day training camp abroad in the middle of June. This means that we will know who we will play when we are out in the training camp. This could somewhat mean a change to the training camp program, but it will not influence our pre-season preparations as our plan is fixed. We will play friendly matches against the strongest possible opponents and this will help the team prepare for both Europa and the Hungarian championship.
