Vidi were back in first division action at the Pancho Arena against Bekescsaba on Saturday. The visitors continued to prove to be Vidi's bogey side. The red and blues last managed to pick up maximum points back in 2004, when current manager Ferenc Horvath was a player for Vidi. The two recently met at the Pancho Arena, which produced a 1-1 draw. Today's game ended in the same scoreline and a point for both.
There was just 3 points on the clock when the first chance arrived. Fabio handled on the right wing around 30 meters from his own goal. Haraszti curled the resulting free kick towards goal, which brought a good save out of keeper Poleksic. A quickly taken free kick on the half way line moments later, saw Haraszti try to play in Feczesin, but the forward was flagged offside. Bekescsaba then scored a goal against the run of play on 9 minutes. Fabio curled a corner in, which was met by the head of Laczko from close range to make it 0-1.
The action continued with Patkai twice shooting at goal, but both efforts saw Poleksic save them. A dangerous 32nd minute free kick from Fabio proved dangerous, with Damjanovic bringing out a good save from Vidi keeper Kovacsik. Patkai sent a high ball in 3 minutes later, which Feczesin controlled, but he hesitated and defender Fabio was able to tackle in time. Half time was nearing with Geresi having two shots on goal, but both were not on target. The ever dangerous visiting forward, Calvente, took the ball down the left wing besides Juhasz, before playing the ball into the middle for Paukner, Rena to trick Vinicius, but he could not beat Kovacsik, who pulled off an excellent point blank save.
The visitors started the second half the more active. Kovacsik was needed again as he pulled off two great saves in the 56th minute! The first saw Birtalan meet a ball in from the wing, which produced a great reflex save, while the rebound fell to Spitzmuller, who shot at goal, but the keeper was again well positioned. Vidi drew level shortly after: Stopira showed good skill on the left, before hitting a low left foot shot into the bottom right hand corner. (1-1).
Patkai went crashing to the floor next to a visiting defender after 65 minutes, but referee Nemeth waved play on. A 77th minute cross from Juhasz was met at the far post by Kovacs, but he shot wide of the target. Man of the match Kovacsik was again in the thick of the action after 84 minutes. He produced a fantastic save to deny Paukner from 10 meters out. The rebound fell to Birtalan, who blasted his shot over the bar.
The final moments of action included a free kick from Piermayr, which again required a Kovacsik save. The visitors were reduced to 10 men in time added on, when Damjanovic collected his second yellow. That was followed shortly afterwards by the final whistle. Videoton are next in action on the 19th March, when Puskas Academy FC are the opponents at the Pancho Arena.
