Head coach Ferenc Horvath speaks at length about his expectations for the training camp.

– The second half of the season will kick off on the 10th February, which is earlier than usual for Hungary. That means that there will be less time to prepare over the winter. How much will this influence the team's program at the start of the year?
– It did have an influence as we could not give the players the amount of rest time as we would have wanted to. The various medical tests at the start of the year took up a couple of days. That means that we had to speed other things up that we would have preferred to have not rushed in to. However, we have to adjust to this program. The facilities at the training camp are very good. The pitches are quality and hotel is also good. We have nothing to complain about with regards to this.
– The team arrived to the resort of Oliva, by the Mediterranean Sea on Wednesday evening. The squad will prepare here until the 23rd January. What are the main aims during the training camp?
– We are focusing at the moment on the fitness side of things. The aim is for the team to be in the right condition, which would allow us to play the way we wish to. We will then take small steps in the tactical side of things and make sure that the players are fresh for the start of the season.
– The first friendly games will shortly take place when we face German duo Kaiserslautern and Union Berlin. What are you expecting from those matches?
– I have said earlier that I am not the biggest fan of friendly games. I do not look at what form the players are in at the start of pre-season. The plan is the players to get 45 minutes or so. We will work and train hard but the results will not be the priority. I will be looking at how the players carry out what we ask of them.
– It is your first visit to Spain as manager of Videoton. If the team coach had gone southwards, when you boarded it outside the airport, you would have arrived at Almeria. Did you enjoy living there during your playing career?
– It is an interesting thing with the lights and feeling, which bring back many memories. Spain is a lovely place and I enjoy being here. However, the task now includes other things, which we need to concentrate on.
– Last year both Viktor Sejben and Krisztian Geresi linked up with the first team squad, having played for the second team. Trio Patrik Paudits, David Kiprich and Jozsef Gyano have all travelled with the squad to Spain. What are you expecting from the youngsters over the next few days?
– Players with good attitudes have linked up with the team, which can be seen now. These kinds of training camps give them the perfect chance to turn in to good players. We are preparing with them and they can experience now what will be needed to achieve the targets.
– Will there be any other special program for the players apart from training and playing in the friendly games during the training camp?
– Cohesion is just as important as training or resting. There are plans for team building programs. We will first see what possibilities are open and then decide what we wish to do during the training camp.
