Mourning - Marton Fulop passes away

The experienced and popular goalkeeper finally lost his battle to the illness on Thursday morning.

Former international keeper Marton Fulop sadly passed away in the early morning of the 12th November at the age of just 32. He had been suffering with a serious and lengthy illness.

Fulop started his playing career in 1992 with BVSC, before making his first division debut at MTK. He moved to Tottenham Hotspurs in 2004, before loan spells at Chesterfield, Coventry City and Sunderland. Fulop eventually made the move to Sunderland in 2007. Further loan periods followed with Leicester City and Manchester City. He signed for Ipswich Town in 2010 and later played for WBA and Greek club Asteras Tripolis. He made 24 appearances for the Hungarian national team between 2005 and 2011.

He was diagnosed with cancer in June 2013 and had battled the illness since then, which unfortunately ended up taking his life this morning.

Videoton FC would like to offer its sincere condolences to his family. Rest in peace Marci!
