Videoton won the hard way with a last minute winner from defender Tamas Vasko. Haladas frustrated the home side, but in the end patience proved a virtue. Marco Caneira came in for his league debut at the heart of defence, partnering match hero Vasko. Hector's recent sending off meant that he was suspended for this game, with Oliveira coming in at left back in place of him. Gosztonyi began the match on the right with Brandao on the other side. Mitrovic, Sandor and Elek gave Videoton plenty of bodies in the midfield area.
Vidi began the match with plenty of possessional play. The home side won several corners in the first half, but it was Haladas who found the back of the net on 17 minutes. However, referee Szabo blew for offside, with the scores remaining at 0-0. Alves then set up Portuguese forward Brandao but his effort went wide. The 21st minute saw Kenesei shoot just wide of Tujvel's goal. The home keeper did well to save after Halmosi cut the ball back on the left for the arriving Horvath to shoot low from 15 meters. Brachi then curled a free kick over the bar on 32 minutes as Vidi looked for the opener. Tujvel was once again called upon as he palmed away Kenesei strike.
Referee Szabo blew for half time with the game still goaless. Vidi went on the attack at the start of the second half, in search of maximum points. Paulo Sousa brought on Walter in place of Elek at the break. Evandro found the back of the Haladas net after 50 minutes, but once again the match officials blew for offside. However, TV replays seemed to show that this decision was incorrect. Oliveira then went on a good run and shot powerfully straight at Rosa, which the keeper seemed to struggle to hold on to. The 55th minute saw Walter cross low from the left and his centre just failed to connect with the outstretched foot of Alves. The match seemed to be heading for a goaless draw, when Haladas were reduced to 10 men. Peter Toth received his second booking, and Vidi then took advantage.
A cross on the right from Mitrovics found the unmarked head of Vasko who headed powerfully downwards and beyond the stranded keeper to give Vidi all three points. The goal came close to the final whistle, and gave Videoton a very important three points, to go 5th in the table. Next week's away game at Vasas will be another massive one for Paulo Sousa and his team.
