Tamas Bognar received his refereeing badge back in 1995, and worked his way through the county leagues. He joined the list of second division referee's in 2002, and following four years at that level, he earned the right to officiate at the very top level of Hungarian football. His debut came in the Kaposvar - Papa 1-0 game on the 8th April 2006. Bognar continued to rise making it to the highest category four level in 2009. He took charge of two Videoton games in season 2008/2009, with both games ending in 2-0 defeats. The first was the 0-2 loss to MTK, and the second was the Honved defeat, which ended 0-2.
