Videoton picked up a vital win on Friday evening, when they beat Debrecen 2-1 in the Monicomp league. Vidi went into the match on the back of a good series of results, including last Saturday's 5-0 away win at Ferencvaros. This win took Vidi 14 points clear at the top of the league table, with a superior goal difference over their rivals. A crowd of just under 5,000 turned out to see their favourite side, but the rainy weather affected the number who took their seats at the Sostoi stadium.

The first half was a quiet affair with both sides trying to stamp their authority on the game. Vidi had Andre Alves and in form striker Laszlo Lencse leading the forward line, while Gyorgy Sandor and Attila Polonkai played in the central midfield positions. Akos Elek was picked on the subs bench, as he continues his return to full fitness following a slight injury. Videoton broke the deadlock after 61 minutes, when Lencse found himself with just the keeper to beat, inside the area. He kept his calm before firing the ball into the back of the net. However, Debrecen came back into the match 5 minutes later. Coulibaly found himself in acres of space, and powerfully shot past Bozsovics in the home goal. Gyorgy Mezey's side showed character to get back into the lead. Andre Alves headed in from a tight angle on 73 minutes, to seal this important win for the Fehervar side.
