Looking back over 2010: July - September

Part three in our serious where we look back on the year just gone by

JULY
1st - Videoton FC launch their brand new English website, which offers the latest news on the club on a daily basis.

6th - Sandor Csanyi is chosen as the new President of the Hungarian FA. Videoton Managing Director Sandor Berzi leaves the club to take up a role at the FA as Vice President and head of International relations. 

7th - Vidi fail to win in Debrecen, meaning that the local side wins the 18th National Super Cup.

13th Videoton further strengthens its squad with the arrival of another international player. Tamas Vasko joins the club from Ujpest, just two days before the Europa League game with NK Maribor.

15th - Videoton kick off their Europa league campaign with a 1-1 draw against Maribor. The game was played at nearby Győr, as the Sostoi stadium was having a new pitch laid. 

19th - Olympic international keeper, Bence Somodi joins the club from Ferencvaros, and becomes part of Vidi's B side that plays in the second division. 

20th - Lazlo Disztl becomes youth development manager at the club. Having arrived from the Puskas Academy, the former club legend is given the U18 side to manage.

22nd - Vidi go out of the Europa League, losing 2-0 in the second leg in Slovenia. NK Maribor progress in the tournament where they will face Hibernian. 

30th - Sandor Berzi bids farewell to the club before taking up his new role at the Hungarian FA. Former operations manager Mark Tassy is chosen as his successor. 

AUGUST
1st - Videoton make a shaky start to the new league season, drawing 1-1 away at newly promoted BFC Siofok. 

8th - The new Sostoi stadium pitch is ready for action and Videoton put on a fitting performance by beating Vasas 3-0 at home. 

10th - Istvan Varga is replaced by Gabor Hartyani, as manager of the second division side. Hartyani was the one time assistant to 1984-85 UEFA Cup manager Ferenc Kovacs.

11th - Vidi's players perform well on the international stage. Andras Gosztonyi scores one and sets up another for the U21 side. Defender Zoltan Liptak makes a very good debut for the full national side.

14th - Videoton FC travel to Budapest to face MTK in blistering heat. They produce a confident display at the Hidegkuti stadium and run away with a 3-0 win. 

19th - The supporters choose defender Zoltan Liptak as their player of the 2009/2010 season. 

21st - Ferencvaros continue to be the bogey side as the pair fight out a 1-1 draw at the Sostoi stadium.

26th - Club coach Balazs Beko gets the highest qualification as he picks up his UEFA Pro licence.

29th - The bad run of results continues at Debrecen where Vidi go down 3-1. Sandor had given the away side the lead before Debrecen hit back.

31st - The last day of the transfer window sees Gabor Horvath join NAC Breda on a loan deal. 

SEPTEMBER
3rd - Hungary play well for an hour before losing against Sweden, in Stockholm, in a European Qualification match. Videoton trio Liptak, Lazar and Elek all play in that game. It was more than 25 years since Videoton last had three players feature in the same international side.

4th - Hungary U21 face their Welsh counterparts at the Sostoi stadium, losing 1-0. The Hungarian FA hand out an award before the game, giving Gabor Horvath the 2009-2010 Jozsef Bozsik award for his performance over the year.

7th - The U21 side fail to qualify as they draw their final match. The young international side includes Lencse and Szakaly in their ranks. 

7th - Hungary beat Moldova in a European Qualification match in Ujpest. All three Videoton players play their part in that good win. 

11th - Laszlo Disztl's U18 side demolish MTK 11-1!

12th - Szolnok lead at half time at the Sostoi stadium, but Videoton produce a good second half performance to pick up all three points. 

24th - Videoton win according to the paper form when they see off Haladas with a 3-1 scoreline in the Monicomp league. The win means that Videoton take over top spot in the league table.

28th - Alves scores the all important goal away at Zalaegerszeg to record a 2-1 win in weekend 7 of the league season.
