- Your father, Róbert Csoboth, was a former footballer for Pécs and Haladas, a member of the team that won the 1984 Youth European Championship, so I guess it's only natural that you became a footballer too. Have you been preparing for this since childhood?

It does seem natural that I became a footballer, but I can honestly say that as a little kid I wasn't that interested in the sport. Then, overnight, all that changed, it seems to be in my genes to love football (laughter). I started to learn about football at the age of 5 or 6, I started talking to my dad about football more and more, so from then on there was no question that I wanted to be a footballer.

- Maybe few people know about you, but you also played football in Székesfehérvár as a child for a short time. How did you end up in the city?

I started playing football at home for PMFC and played there for more than 8 years. Then I felt I needed a change. I had already been going to the Főnix in Székesfehérvár for training and individual courses and as I really liked the professional work there, my family and I decided that the Főnix could be the next step in my development. I still had one year of primary school left, which I finished here in Székesfehérvár. 

- But you started secondary school in the capital.

That's right, Ferencváros approached me and I transferred there from Főnix, so I started high school in Budapest. I was playing well, scored a lot of goals and felt that I was constantly improving. At that time I had already had several enquiries from abroad, but I didn't want to rush into anything, it was a well thought-out and considered decision to accept Benfica's offer.

- You went to Portugal at 16, and many people at that age are still worried about having to move cities within the country to study. And you moved to the other side of Europe. How did you manage to settle in, did you have any problems with the language, for example?

I didn't worry about how far away I would be from home, because I had a dream that I was determined to achieve. I wanted to be a professional footballer at all costs. Benfica are a world famous club, I was really honoured by their interest and I was happy to embark on the Portuguese adventure as we felt that Benfica would be the best place for me to develop my playing style and to further develop my skills. The first few months were extremely difficult, I was in a completely new environment, I spoke no Portuguese and very little English. But I never for a moment thought about giving up. Fortunately, my teammates, coaches and teachers were very helpful. The fact that we had two training sessions almost every day at the academy and spent a lot of time on the pitch also helped me a lot. The foreign students, including myself, studied with separate teachers. The subjects were taught to us in English and Portuguese, so I had to learn English first and then Portuguese. English was better for me, but I can also speak Portuguese, which I can use here at Vidi, because there are players in the squad with whom I can communicate in Portuguese. But obviously the biggest success of my 5 years in Portugal was not learning the language (laughs). 

- Speaking of successes, what do you consider the biggest success of your career so far?

I would mention the 2017 U17 European Championship, where we won our group ahead of France, Scotland and the Faroe Islands. I scored twice against France, so that was a great experience and I'm proud of our team's performance.

- What are your goals following your arrival at Vidi?

I have made a lot of progress in Portugal over the last 5 years. One of my big dreams was to play for Benfica's first team, I was on the bench once, so I was close to fulfilling that dream, but I didn't manage it. I've made several appearances in the reserves, I know what adult football is like, I'm ready for it. Here at Vidi, I want to become a stable player who can always be counted on by his coach. I will try to help the team with goals and assists and of course I want to win trophies with Vidi. Obviously, I also have personal targets, such as performing in a way that will allow me to be called up for the senior national team in time.
