The international midfielder returns to Vidi after a period of over six years away.

Akos Elek will continue his career in the colours of MOL Vidi FC. The 48 times capped Hungarian international is returning home after a period with Kazakhstan club Kairat Almati.
The 30 year old first joined Vidi in the summer of 2008 from Kazincbarcika. He mainly played for the second team despite making his debut against Siofok in the 2008-2009 season. The big change came in the following season 2009-2010. He became a regular for the team and also a member of Hungarian Olympic national side under the management of Sandor Egervari. Almost a year to the day that he made his first division debut, the midfielder scored his first goal in the NB I in the season opener away at Kecskemet, which Vidi won 6-3.
The 5th June 2010 saw Akos Elek make his debut for Hungary against Holland. He would go onto play against such national teams as England, Sweden and Finland. He provided the assist in the latter game in the final minute for Dzsudzsak to score. He also scored his first goal for his country in a 4-0 win over Iceland.
He was a main player under manager Győrgy Mezey as they won the league and also made the Hungarian cup final. He also helped Vidi to league cup wins in 2009 and 2010 and was a member of the runners up side in the NB I. Elek played in the 2011 Super Cup final win under Paulo Sousa and also featured in the CL game against Sturm Graz. He scored the first ever goal in that competition for Vidi. Akos Elek moved to Turkey in the spring on 2012 and played for Eskisehirspor in a loan deal, before eventually returning to Hungary and signing for DVTK.
The spell in Diosgyőr was followed by a move to China and Csangcsun Jatai, before returning to Hungary for his second spell with DVTK. He was most recently playing in Kazakhstan for Kairat Almati.
"I never closed the chance of one day returning back to Vidi, which is why it was important for me back then to leave the club in good circumstances. I never made it a secret when I was playing for DVTK just how much Vidi meant to me. It was at this club that I went from a boy to becoming a man. I became a first division player here and also represented my country. I feel very proud to have been a member of the first title winning side. Equally proud is the fact that I scored the clubs first goal in the Champions League. I really do have so many nice memories of the club, which is why it is great to be back after six and a half years. Naturally I have kept upto date with Vidi during that time in both the domestic league and in Europe. I want to help Vidi reach serious targets as I return home. I still remember how we celebrated the title in the city that evening. I want to relive that feeling again and also help Vidi achieve good results in Europe" - commented new signing Akos Elek.
"I consider Akos to be a serious weapon as we have brought to the club another Hungarian international player. Akos also understands what it means to win trophies with Vidi as he was a member of the first title winning side. He has plenty of international experience and has played 48 times for his country. He is a different kind of player than the other players we have in this position. It gives the manager more options and also increases the competition in midfield. This will help all the players to profit and also help the team move forward. Akos had options both abroad and in Hungary but I felt throughout negotiations that his link to this club was strong and that we really wants to play for us." - explained director of football Zoltan Kovacs.
