The Champions League Q3 1st leg was played in Malmö on Tuesday. The weather inside the New Malmö stadium was very warm. There were also several that made the journey from Hungary and took their place in the visiting section. Manager Marko Nikolic had to do without banned Szabolcs Huszti and chose the following starting line-up: Kovácsik – Fiola, Juhász, Vinícius, Stopira – Nego, Anel Hadzic, Nikolov – Lazovics, Kovács I. - M. Scepovics.

The game started with Vidi in their familiar red and blue kit and the first chance came to the visitors. With 7 minutes on the clock, Marko Scepovic tried to sneak between the central defenders to get on the end of a curling low cross in from Lazovic, but he could not turn the ball towards goal. Antonsson then found himself with a big chance on goal two minutes later, but Adam Kovacsik closed down the angle and saved well to deny the forward's strong shot. Istvan Kovacs then fell to the ground on 15 minutes following a cross from the right. However, the Slovenian referee waved play on. The game then evened out in the minutes that followed with the ball often in the middle of the pitch. The home defenders twice stopped Danko Lazovic, with both of them going into the referee's book.

A cross from the left after 26 minutes saw Antonsson flick the ball over from 6 meters. Vidi then hit a good counter attack 3 minutes later with a cross from Scepovic going just past the arriving Nego. Events sped up with half time approaching. First Larsson tried from distance and Kovacsik was equal to it. At the other end, a Kovacs cross was met by the shot of Boban Nikolov, who from 15 meters, saw his effort blocked by one of the Swedish defenders. Injury time resulted in a shot from Nego, which did not hit the target from 20 meters.

There was a change at the break for the home side with Lewicki coming on to replace Trautason. Marko Nikolic kept the same side. A Lazovic pass on 51 minutes played Nikolov in with a chance, but his shot from a tight angle was saved by Dahlin and the ball went out for a corner. Bachirou sent a 57th minute shot into the hands of a confident Kovacsik in the Vidi goal. However, he could not do anything to stop Malmö going ahead after 62 minutes. Christiansen made a good run into the box to calmly slip the ball in to the net from 10 meters to make it 1-0.

Danko Lazovic won a free kick on the edge of the Malmö box after 65 minutes. The resulting curling free kick from the Serbian bounced off the bar with Dahlin rooted to his spot. Then Vidi continued to press and their reward came with a vital away goal after 71 minutes. Loic Nego got onto a long ball forward and kept his nerve to win the ball ahead of the defenders, before slamming his shot into the top corner (1-1).

Mate Patkai came on towards the end and there were further subs with Varga and Stefan also coming on to make sure Vidi saw the game out and will now take a 1-1 draw into the second leg next week.
