Vidi came up against Luxembourg champions F91 Dudelange on Tuesday evening. The match took place at the Pancho Arena in the Champions league Q1, 2nd leg. The first match had ended 1-1 last week, which meant that Vidi went into the game leading on the away goal rule. Budapest Honved went through 5-2 over two games earlier in the evening after their 4-0 home win over Rabotnicki.

The match started well with a 3rd minute Huszti corner being met be the head of Juhasz, which ended with the visiting keeper dealing with the effort. It was Vidi that directed things in the opening 10 minutes but Dudelange gradually started to come back into the game. They tried to create chances in front of the home goal but Kovacsik had little to do. The first goal arrived on 18 minutes when Nego found Huszti with a nice pass and the shot on goal was saved by Joubert, but the rebound fell to Lazovic who found the bottom right corner to make it 1-0.

The game levelled out with yellow cards being shown rather than chances at either end. The match official showed 3 yellows inside 10 minutes. The ball was mainly inside the Vidi half during this period of the game but again the visiting side found it hard to get through the home defence. The Luxembourg side did have a good chance after 38 minutes when Couturier sent a shot from close range just wide after a cross from the right side.

The second half started with a big chance for Vidi. Scepovic found Huszti, who curled a lovely ball in front of goal but Lazovic was just inches away from connecting with it. Turpel had a shot on goal after 53 minutes, which was comfortably dealt with by Kovacsik. However, he could do nothing as Dudelange levelled a minute later: Couturier tried from inside the box, which Vinicius could only half clear, but the ball fell to the forward, who made no mistake from 15 meters to make it 1-1.

The game at that point looked as if it would be heading into extra time for just 4 minutes. With 58 minutes played, Lazovic passed to Nego, whose powerful close range shot came back off the bar and bounced on the goal line, with Scepovics on hand to roll the ball into the back of the net, 2-1.

Stolz had a shot saved by Kovacsik on the hour but Vidi could not relax with the score at 2-1. A goal from the Luxembourg side would have made it 2-2 and they would have gone through on the away goal. With the minutes ticking by, the visiting team in their white kit started to press forward. Dudelange came close to scoring after 83 minutes when a Jordanov cross was headed just over by Turpel. Kovacsik saved well in the 92nd minute to deny a Da Cruz powerful shot from going in. Ibrahimovic could not connect clearly from the resulting corner when well placed and the danger escaped. There was still time for the referee to show a straight red to Melisse after he kicked Patkai in what was an ugly incident.

MOL Vidi FC won 3-2 on aggregate and will go through to the Q2 round to face Ludogorets from Bulgaria. Th first game will be played next Wednesday away with the return leg in Felcsut on the 1st August.
