It was Ferencvaros that started the game better but they fell behind to a 4th minute goal. Majer curled a ball in following a free kick from the wing. Czeczeli powerfully headed home from close range to make it 1-0. The match was made safe on half time with the second and final goal.

A Vidi move that started with Czeczeli ended with keeper Hajdu racing out of his goal, and the shot from Majer rebounded off a defender and fell to Tiber, who placed it into the bottom left of the goal from close range. There was heavy fog in the second half, but it did not stop either side from battling as the game continued at a good tempo. There were no further goals for the enthusiastic supporters.

Kaposvár: Buús - Englóner, Gulyás, Zentai, Németh (Duschák 46') — Hangai, Kanyar, Konrád — Karasz, Kiss, Marcsok (Kovács F. 62')

The game was played on a slippery and wet pitch. The first move fell to the visitors, but a shot from Karasz was easily dealt with. The home side took the lead after 12 minutes. Kovacs went down the right side, and his cross found Czeczeli, who from 5 meters found the back of the net (1-0). The attacking moves from the home side improved during the game, and a further goal after 18 minutes for the red and blues. A cross from Czeczeli was punched out by Ruus, but Majer was on hand to react and find the far corner from a tight angle to make it 2-0. The visitors came back into the game after 35 minutes with a powerful strike from Karasz from 14 meters. The home side extended their lead after 42 minutes. Burcsa played himself in with a chance, before finding Szabo, who powerfully scored to make it 3-1.

Vidi scored another goal after the break. Nagy played in Duschak and he found Cseczel with a pinpoint ball, with the winger scoring to make it 4-1 from close range. Peter Disztl came on for his NBI debut after 83 minutes. His first game in the top league would be memorable as he would be credited with an own goal to make it 4-2. Kaposvar further closed the margin to make it 4-3 when Kanyar placed the ball beyond Disztl.

2001 - Big end of year win over Ujpest FC

There was 10cm of snow on the pitch at the Sostoi stadium. Stewards, supporters and organisers put hard work in to make the game playable. Referee Attila Abraham was able to blow his whistle for kick off. The Vidi side included 3 players who had been Ujpest players a year before. Two of them, Zoltan Szlezak and Lajos Terjek were in the starting line-up. Balazs Kovacs took his place on the subs bench.

Both teams played with four defenders, four midfielders and two forwards for this league game. It quickly became clear that it was Vidi that started with the bigger tempo. Istvan Hamar gave the home side a very early lead. The game was not too exciting for the watching supporters during the first half. Supporters even threw snow balls onto the pitch to keep themselves interested. Vagner levelled for Ujpest before the break but Vidi restored their lead through Hamar to make it 2-1 at half time.

Laszlo Komodi hit two goals to secure a 4-1 win for Vidi, against the lilacs who were unable to match the tempo. That made it very hard for them to get anything out of the match.
