1973 was a decisive year for Ujpest who had won five consecutive league titles from 1969 to 1973. They would go on later to do the same in season 1973/1974.
Vidi did not go into the match on the 3rd November 1973 as favourites. The Fehervar players would have settled for a draw leading up to the match. That would have been even more certain after just 2 minutes with Ujpest taking a 1-0 lead in the opening minute. Dunai scored from close range to put his side ahead. Vidi started the game nervously but they managed to draw level after 17 minutes. Laszlo Nagy fouled Wollek on the edge of the box. Karsai curled the resulting free kick towards goal and it was bet by Wollek, whose header went in off the post. Szentmihaly saved a shot from 18 meters by Karsai close to half time. The rebound fell to Szalmasy who rolled the ball to Wollek and he made no mistake from 6 meters. Vidi also turned the game around as the teams went in at the break.
The second half began and the action continued after 61 minutes when a Wollek was fouled. That resulted in referee Marton sending off a player from each side. Dozsa equalised 15 minutes later on 77 minutes. Kolar sent a ball towards goal and Nagy tricked Kovacs, and shot at goal close to the goal line with the ball finding its way into the back of the net. It set up an exciting end and it was Vidi who scored the winning goal after 88 minutes. Mester rolled the ball in his own half to Nagy, which was sent forward towards Fazekas. Wollek got hold of the ball while it was still in the Ujpest half and pulled away besides Nagy, before turning Harsanyi, and placing the ball into the right corner. That gave Wollek his third goal of the game and a good two points in a winning game.

It was an interesting game from several aspects on the 5th November 1977 in Szekesfehervar. It was the first ever derby game in the first division against a side from the same city. Vidi's manager was the defender from the golden Hungarian side of the 50's in the form of Mihaly Lantos. Mav Elore were coached by Antal Szentmihaly, who was the former Ujpest legend. The first half was surprising in the fact that it was MAV Elore that had more of the ball and took the lead. However, that changed with two goals for Vidi on 31 and 33 minutes through Kovacs and Nagy. There was even time for another goal on half time to make it 3-1 at the break. MAV scored a quick goal in the second half to come back into the game through Lechner. Two powerful goals from Szabo on 66 and 70 minutes made it a comfortable 5-2 win in the end. That win kicked off a good run of results with the team going on to remain unbeaten in 9 matches, which included a 3-0 away at Ferencvaros and a 6-4 home win over Ujpest.

This match 8 years ago produced plenty of goals at the home of Vasas. Although the teams went in at half time with the score at 0-0, the second half would produce 6 goals! The breakthrough came on 54 minutes with a goal from Alves from close range. The Brazilian slipped the ball through the legs of keeper Vegh. Remili levelled after 68 minutes with a header. The supporters saw another header 10 minutes later when Dobric' goal saw Vasas lead 2-1 with 12 minutes left. However, that was cancelled out with a Balazs Farkas 21 meters shot after 82 minutes. It was a lovely free kick which found its way into the net. Alison was fouled inside the box on 86 minutes and the referee pointed to the spot. Alves made no mistake to score a penalty and then scored a further goal a couple of minutes later to make the final score 2-4.
