The Cape Verde international defender whose full name is Ianique dos Santos Tavares was born on the 20th May 1988. Before signing for Vidi in 2012, he had played for Sporting Praia, Santa Clara, Deportivo La Coruna B side and Feirense. Stopira has played in 88 first division games in Hungary and that has seen him score 6 goals. He was a member of the 2015 title winning side and also the Vidi team that finished second in the league in 2013 and 2016.

It appeared during the summer of 2015 that he would be leaving the football club. However, the arrival of director of football Zoltan Kovacs, meant that one of the firs things he did was to entice the defender back to the club and offer him a new deal. He signed a 2 year deal then, which was due to ran out in the summer of 2017. Now that has been extended by a further 2 + 1 years.

"I cannot say just how happy I am and that the club are serious about me looking ahead. They offered me a new deal with half a year remaining of my current one, which I am delighted to have accepted. Trust is always very important for a footballer to feel. I would like to be a useful member of the squad in the future. I would also like to celebrate further title wins as a Vidi player. One of the highlights of my playing career so far was when we won the league title in 2015. I can promise the supporters that I will always give my best to make Vidi successful in each game I play in. I have been playing football in Hungary for more than four years and I consider it my second home. One of the biggest motivations for me, besides naturally wanting to win the league title and cup, is to make it back into the group stages of European competition with the club. I feel that the current team has what is needed and I hope that next summer, we will begin a good run in Europe" - commented Stopira after signing the new deal with Videoton FC.
