The new Sostoi stadium and the connected rehabilitation of that part of the city has been given the go ahead after the city held a meeting on Friday. It will be completely financed by the state and work is expected to start very quickly.

"We have to hand over the site within 5 working days of the contract being signed. The original hand over date of the new stadium is due in 2017-18. The spring will see the construction of the water supply and sanitation utilities. That will be followed by deep foundation and the construction of the concrete sections that will house the stands. The stand roofing should be in place by the end of the summer. The facade glass structures will also be put into place at the same time. The pitch is also planned to be laid down as winter approaches at the same time as the seats are attached to their place within the stands. Work on the inner sections will be the final part" - commented local city mayor Andras Cser-Palkovics.
