FK Mladost Titograd as they were originally known began life in 1950, playing in red and white colours. Following independence, they were members of both the first and second division, first as part of the Yugoslavian domestic league, where they were mainly playing in the second and third level.

Our Europa League opponents ended the 2012/2013 season in sixth place. However cup winners Budućnost Podgorica and fourth placed Grbalj did not receive a license from UEFA to play in the Europa League. That resulted in both them and fifth place Rudar Pljevlja representing their country in European competition.
