Mourning: Florian Albert passes away

The Management, players and supporters express their sadness at his death

Albert Florian, who was the only Hungarian footballer to win the golden ball, has died at the age of 71. The legendary forward, was one of the best players ever to pull on a Ferencvaros shirt, and the present stadium in Budapest, is named after him. He made a total of 75 appearances for Hungary, eventually picking up the golden boot award in 1967. He was a one man club remaining for the length of his playing career at the club he loved, Ferencvaros. His amazing goal scoring ratio of 256 goals in 351 matches will be hard to beat.

Born: September 15th 1941 in Hercegszántó
Clubs: The centre forward signed for his first club Ferencvaros, in 1952, under the then name of Bp. Kinizsi. He remained their until the end of his playing career in 1974. During that time he played in 351 league matches, scoring an amazing 256 goals. Albert also played in many European games for the green and whites. He helped Ferencvaros to four league titles (1963, 1964, 1967, 1968) and the Hungarian cup in 1972. He was also top goalscorer three times: (1960: 27 goals; 1961: 21 goals; 1965: 27 goals) International/goals: 75/31
