Videoton were made to work in both the cup matches with Haladas last week. Saturday's 0-0 draw at Szombathely, saw the team having to cope with the difficult pitch and very cold weather. Vidi ended up winning 1-0 on aggregate to make it into the quarterfinals. The draw on Saturday was more about working hard than playing football. Midfielder Balazs Toth put in a real shift in the middle of the pitch, to help his side through. We spoke to him after the match to get his thoughts on things.

 

Paulo Sousa said after the match, that his side were able to change the football they were playing, to take in the circumstances of the game. What does this involve?

Not that we had to only concentrate on the defensive side of our game. We tried to play the type of passing football, with which we have become familiar with at the beginning of the match. This involved keeping possession of the ball, but it quickly became clear that the state of the pitch would not allow us to do this. We tried to be more direct as a result, and play the ball forward towards the attacking players. We also managed to defend well at the same time. 

Did the match throw up what you had expected it to beforehand?

Yes, we knew that it would be tough, against opponents who would battle, and we did not feel that it would be easy to go through to the next round. I thought that we deserved to go through based on both matches. 

We will now face Győri ETO in the next round, in what will be a very hard tie.

We have no reason to be scared. I feel that at the moment, our side are stronger than Győr's. I know that we lost our league game in Győr, but that match also showed that we are better. The most important thing now is that we have a good pre-season ahead of the spring season. Than we can look ahead to the tasks following that. I can promise that we will be doing everything to realise our plans, in the league and cup.
