Martin Izing talks about his time in Spain

Youngster Martin Izing took part in his first training camp

- I felt really good in the training camp. I picked up lots of experience, and the two weeks away helped me mentally to further understand senior football. The first division is quicker, and the players have a spring in their step. At the same time I did see new things, like on the technical side. I feel that I have improved after the many training exercises. I tried to do my very best during the time there. As to whether I was expecting something different there? No, the teams that we played against, showed exactly what we were counting on them to do. The Spanish are quicker, and very good with the ball. This is one area where I feel that I have to improve, while power and strength were the dominating factors when we faced the Russians and Serbian sides. I did not get a chance in all of the games, as I only featured against Indija and Xerez. However, the minutes I spent on the pitch in those games, were very useful for me. One of the highlights of our time in Spain was the league game between Sevilla and Malaga. My short time in Belgium had given me an insight into big stadiums, but the atmosphere in the stands, which 35,000 fans can create was amazing. My time at the training camp has further increased the longing to stay with the first team squad. I hope that the manager will feel confident to count on me over the spring season.
