Videoton played their first pre-season friendly of the summer in Austria on Wednesday evening. Midfielder Dinko Trebotic had said before the game that the result would not be the key factor of the match. The coaching team held a tough training session in the morning for the players, so it was no surprise that the Austrian side were fresher over the 90 minutes.
The first chance arrived on 6 minutes when Jacobo shot from 18 meters out, which flew just over the bar. The game was fairly even in the minutes that followed although the Austrian side had perhaps slightly more of the ball. Jacobo got hold of the ball on 20 minutes and found the far corner of the net from 15 meters out (1-0). Vidi managed to create chances mainly from dead ball situations. A quick counter attack after 37 minutes ended with Robert Feczesin scoring the equalizer to make it 1-1. Wolfsberger could have gone straight in to the lead from the kick off. Silvio De Oliveria saw his effort go wide from 14 meters.
Half time saw the manager of Wolfsberger change his entire side with the exception of goalscorer Jacobon. Bernard Casoni made four changes at the break. On came Patkai for his debut while youngster Sejben also started. It was the Austrian side that started better in the second period. They went in to the lead after 65 minutes with a goal from Trdina (2-1). A further 5 substitutes came on for Vidi on 65 minutes. Only Istvan Kovacs played the entire 90 minutes. Keeper Peter Gabor made his debut for the first team, as did Daniel Havasi, who were playing for the Vidi II side last season. The latter was the top goalscorer in the third division last season. He needed just three minutes before finding himself with a chance on goal. His shot produced a good save from the Wolfsberger keeper. There was also a debut for defender Adam Lang, and the international players that returned from duty with their respective countries in the last 25 minutes.
Juhasz, Szolnoki and Simon came on and helped Vidi to direct play in the remainder of the match as the red and blues went in search of an equalizer, which in the end eluded them. Vidi are next in pre-season action on Saturday, in Slovenia against Romanian side FC Astra Giurgiu.
