Videoton's fantastic run in the UEFA Cup began on the 18th September 1984. Our clubs website celebrates those memorable moments as we honor manager Ferenc Kovacs and his legendary team. The return leg against Dukla Prague took place on the 2nd October.

We pay tribute to the fantastic run in the UEFA Cup, which took place 30 years ago. The first leg of the Videoton FC - Dukla Prague match was played on the 18th September in Fehervar, which produced a 1-0 home win. That game was the first of 12 (+1) games during that run, which ended at the home of Real Madrid and the Santiago Bernabeu stadium. It was also the biggest achievement for a Hungarian side over the last 30 years. That legendary team ended up as runners-up in that seasons UEFA Cup, which today is known as the Europa League.
Vidi.hu today looks back to that second leg match in Prague. We look at the photos from that game, the views of the journalists and professionals within the game regarding the chances of going through.
We will continue to pay tribute during the course of the season to mark the other UEFA Cup matches on the anniversary of those games. Just like with the current Videoton side, we will give similar coverage so that the matches against Paris Saint Germain (October 24, November 7-8), Partizan Belgrade (November 28, December 12), Manchester United (March 6th, March 20th), Zeljeznicar Sarajevo (April 10, April 24) and the two legged final with Real Madrid (May 8th, May 22nd) can be relived once again.
There will also be surprises included that have perhaps never been seen before....
