Videoton produced a good second half performance to emerge winners of this pre-season friendly on Wednesday. Manager Gyorgy Mezey used a total of 24 players, fielding virtually two seperate sides in each half. Both sides began this match slowly, with the game played a slow tempo, in cold conditions. Vidi had more of the possession in  the first half, and were the better side in the early stages. However, it was Ujpest who opened the scoring with a Rajczi goal after 22 minutes. A lapse of concentration in the home defence allowed the experienced forward, to calmly place the ball beyond keeper Mladen Bozsovics. Videoton tried to get back into the game, but the first half ended with the visitors leading by a single goal. 

Gyorgy Mezey made seven changes at the break, with only Lazar, Vasko and Elek remaining on the pitch at the start of the second half. Videoton were a different side in the second half, thanks to the introduction of Polonkai, who began to make things happen in midfield. The front two pairing of Lencse and Nikolics were far more agile and looked sharp in front of the Ujpest goal. Vidi created several chances and it was no surprise when one of these led to a penalty decision. Lencse was fouled inside the penalty box, and Nikolics kept his cool to fire home the penalty. Lencse then scored the winner with four minutes remaining, when he ran on to a pass, before shooting across the face of the goal, and in off the post. Friendly matches are more about building up fitness levels than the actual result, although it is always good to win a game, which does a lot for confidence. The red and blues now face a home match in the league cup with Paks.
