Gyereksarok991A Vidi korai éveinek egyik legnagyobb legendája Horváth II Lajos. A védőként és fedezetként is szereplő egykori kiválóság nagyon hosszú ideig, 1958-as debütálásától egészen 1968-ig szolgálta az akkor még VT Vasas néven szereplő klubot.
Több mint 220 NB-s bajnokin állt a mindenkori vezetőedző rendelkezésére, csak a sorkatonai szolgálat miatt hagyott ki hosszabb időszakot. Ebből a számból - mintegy pályafutása megkoronázásaként - 3 jutott az NB I-re, hiszen az 1967-es NB I/B-s bajnoki cím után az élvonalra már jobbára kiszorult a csapatból.
A kiesés után vissza is vonult és 1969-től 1979-ig technikai vezetőként segítette a csapatot.
