Bartosz Grzelak is the new head coach of Vidi!

Our team will be led by a young but experienced Swedish coach.

Based on the agreement between Bartosz Grzelak and our club, the 44-year-old Polish-born Swedish professional will be in charge of the first team of MOL Fehérvár FC from Wednesday!

Our new head coach was born on the 2nd November 1978 in Szczecin, Poland, but moved to Sweden as a child with his family. He started playing football at a very young age, making his debut in 1997 for one of Sweden's top teams, AIK Solna, and was also a member of the Swedish U19 national team, but he made an early career switch into coaching.

From 2009 to 2011 he was assistant coach at IK Frey Taby, and then head coach at the club not far from Stockholm for five and a half years. During his years there, the team moved up to the second division, where he stabilised the Yellow and Blacks' position before becoming assistant coach at AIK in the summer of 2017. From there, his path led him to the position of assistant coach of the Swedish U21 national team, before taking over at AIK in August 2020, where he won a silver medal in his first full season - top place was only decided by goal difference. He left Solna in August 2022, winning 41 of his 80 matches and drawing 18 and leaving the pitch without a point only 21 times.

"The team is undoubtedly in a difficult situation at the moment, but I'm still excited and proud to start working for Vidi. It's not the time to talk about our long-term plans, we have to live and work in the present - the task is known to everyone. I took over at AIK in 2020 in a slightly similar situation, my experience is that the most important thing is that the whole club, all players, staff and colleagues have to pull in the same direction and do everything together to achieve our goal. Of course, I know that before the season everyone had higher expectations for the team's performance, but now I have to put that aside and do my best to make Vidi more successful and in the meantime the players will improve individually" - said our new head coach Bartosz Grzelak after signing the contract.

"It was important to choose a coach like Bartosz who is not unfamiliar with the situation, as he took over in a similar situation at AIK and led the team to a silver medal and onto European competition. From the first moment we met him, we sensed his openness and motivation for the job. From the first time we sat down to talk to him, you could see that he was looking after the team and was aware of our players. He chose Vidi out of several options, and I was very sympathetic to the fact that I could feel he wanted to work here. He convinced us, we are confident that he will give the team a new impetus that will help the team to move upwards for the last ten games," said our sporting director Roland Juhász.

Bartosz Grzelak has signed a contract with our club until 30th June 2025, and an assistant coach is scheduled to join our first team's coaching staff later this week.
