In the final match of the 32nd round of the OTP Bank Liga, our team played at the Szusza Ferenc Stadion on Sunday evening as guests of Újpest FC. In the penultimate round, Michael Boris went for the starting line-up of Kovács D. - Rus, Stopira, Shabanov - Nego, Zulj, Pinto, Dárdai, Heister - Kodro, Nikolic. Budu Zivzvadze, on loan at the Purple-Whites, who was substituted at Kisvárda due to injury, was not in the squad, but two of our former players, Filip Pajovic and Nikola Mitrovic, were in the starting line-up.

The game started with some tough challenges, Heister was shown a yellow card in the 2nd minute, and in the 5th minute Csongvai put in a heavy challenge on Pinto, but the home player escaped without a card. The first shot fell to the home side's Onovo's in the 13th minute, but he did not cause any danger, but Croizet scored two minutes later from a tight angle after Dániel Kovács spilled the ball (1-0). In the 27th minute Kodro was in a good position, but his shot from close range did not find the back of the net.

In the 40th minute Zulj's 25-metre free-kick crashed past the right post. A minute before the end of the half, Pinto curled the ball in from the left, Kodro slid in but missed the target, while Shabanov's long-range shot was saved by Pajovic and after a minute of injury time the referee blew for the end of the first half.

Neither head coach made any changes at the break, and in the 51st minute Csongvai's 11-metre header was dangerous, but in the end Kovács did not have to save. Two minutes later, Nikolic' close-range shot was saved by Pajovic, but it would have been disallowed for a foul. With another two minutes played, our captain tried to score from 19 yards after Kodro had laid the ball off for him, but Pajovic was again on the spot. There was a noticeable upturn in the game as almost immediately from the next attack Croizet was in a shooting position, but he mis-hit the ball from 13 yards. We managed to equalise in the 62nd minute! After a right wing ball in, Kodro headed the ball back to Nikolic, and Niko shot from 15 metres out, Pajovic could only reach the ball but it crept in (1-1).

The teams did not settle down after the goal either, in the 66th minute Kovács had to make a great save from Antonov's free kick, and four minutes later Croizet had a chance. In the 74th minute, Michael Boris made a change, replacing Shabanov with Fiola and Dárdai with Petryak. Four minutes later, Antonov, after a great solo effort from slightly out-of-position, volleyed wide of the goal. Makarenko came on for Zulj eight minutes before the end of normal time and Funsho came on for Nikolic in the 87th minute. At the end of the match, neither team could score and the 1-1 final result means that our team will finish 4th in the OTP Bank Liga 2021/2022 season regardless of the result of the last round.
