Sándor Preisinger: "At Vidi, everything is in place for high quality work"

As an assistant to Michael Boris, the former national team striker and NB I top scorer also joined the coaching staff last week.

You worked with Michael Boris for years, is that the main reason why he chose you as his assistant coach?

Michael and I go back to our time at the MLSZ, where we worked together for the U16 and U21 national teams, he was my assistant for the former and I was his for the latter. Wherever we've worked since then, we've kept in touch, and now he's asked me to help him at Vidi, which I was delighted to accept, both because of the club and because of Michael himself.

The head coach pointed out that he chose you because you have worked as a head coach for an adult team before, so he doesn't count on you as "just" an assistant coach.

Of course, my primary job is to be the assistant coach, but I feel that he asks for my opinion and my insights in his day-to-day work, but obviously he makes the final decision. Whatever I see, I tell him, we have an honest relationship, which is key in the relationship between a head coach and an assistant coach.

Can your perfect command of German help you work together?

We communicate with the team mainly in English, but it's easier for Michael to talk to me in his mother tongue. It also helps that I can speak to several players in their mother tongue, as it's easier for them to express themselves in certain situations.

As a former NB I and NB II top scorer and a national team striker, do you regularly give advice to strikers based on your experience?

I always talk a lot to the players, not only the strikers of course, it's also the assistant coach's job to be close to the players and listen to their insights, but when we split into groups in training, I tend to focus on the strikers. We have strikers with excellent skills, but if I see little things that I have experienced even in my career and I feel it helps them, of course I share them.

What are your experiences at Vidi after one week?

I know the clubs in Hungary well, so I can safely say that we can work in excellent conditions at Vidi, everything is given for a high level of work. We came to the team in the midst of an unsuccessful process, it's a situation we have to deal with, we are working to turn this series around quickly and get the team on the path it is destined to take. We want to win every game, of course it can't happen overnight, but I believe that together with the players we will be successful.
