Our Sporting Director spoke about the events of the past few weeks and the future of the team.

The transfer window ended on the 14th February and then two days later, Imre Szabics was replaced by Michael Boris. After a busy couple of weeks, we spoke to István Sallói, Sport Director of MOL Fehérvár FC.
"We don't want to dwell on the past, obviously a change of coach is rarely the result of a positive event. We have lost three coaches who have done a lot for Hungarian football as players, Imre Szabics, Roland Juhász and Sándor Torghelle, who have worked hard to make the team successful, but given the results and the way the team has played, we felt that a change was the best option for the club. Michael Boris has a great knowledge of the Hungarian game, we believe he has done a good job at both MLSZ and MTK, so we are confident he will steer our team back to winning ways."
During the winter break, the Vidi supporters will mostly be watching the transfers, with Austrian midfielder Peter Zulj, Ukrainian defender Artem Shabanov and Bohdan Lednev, who has been a regular in the Ukraine national team's starting line-up, joining the first team in January as a winger and attacking midfielder.
"At the beginning of the season, we talked about the need for three transfer periods to make the team competitive in the next league season, two of which have passed. Of these, the summer was more of a half transfer period, and in the winter we wanted to be more intensive and sign more players. Our plan was to sign 4-5 players, three of which we managed to sign, plus Krisztián Géresi returned from Puskás Akadémia, Evandro returned from the Serbian top division and Ruben Pinto recovered from his Achilles tendon rupture, so in that respect the squad has moved forward. We will have the opportunity to go deeper into the squad in the summer. Obviously, I have more experience from the inside, and it will be important to bring in some players with more character in the summer transfer window, who have the leadership qualities the team needs. I feel that we could have had better results in the last three games if we had a few players on the pitch who could inspire others from within in a given game situation."
István Sallói also shared Vidi's aims with us.
"Our goals have not changed, but obviously we are in a slightly more difficult position now than when we started. At the beginning of the season, the aim was to win finish in the top three and win the MOL Hungarian Cup, in the cup we are in contention, in the next round we will play against our old rivals ETO. We are the clear favourites against the second division side, we should be there in the semi-finals and hopefully in the final. In the league we are 10 points behind third place, but we still have 13 games to go. We mustn't give up, a very strong run could see us make top three. It will be very important in the next one or two games that the positive momentum that a new coach brings is matched by results, so we are basically looking for results from Michael Boris and his staff."

Our team's league match against Puskás Akadémia FC will kick off on Saturday at 19:30 at the MOL Arena Sósto.
