On Wednesday, our team achieved a confident 5-2 win in the MOL Hungarian Cup against BVSC. Almost unbelievably, our captain, Nemanja Nikolic, scored his first treble for Vidi. However, it was his sixth treble in his career, having scored three goals in a game for all his club teams.

Niko has scored a hatrick for Kaposvár, Chicago Fire and Vidi, while he has also hit a triple three times for Legia Warszawa.

Our team captain played his 291st game in the MOL Hungarian Cup on Wednesday, and thanks to his three goals, he now has 155 goals. Niko scored 108 in the NB I championship, 27 in the Hungarian Cup, 14 in the League Cup and 6 in the EL.

This puts him in second place on the Vidi all-time goalscoring list behind József Szabó with 160 goals. So our striker has every chance to break József Szabó's NB I club record for goals at Vidi (111) and to take first place in the overall goalscoring charts this season. To break the NB I club record, Niko needs four more league goals, while the overall club record requires six goals in a competitive match. 

"Strange as it may sound, the treble against BVSC was my first treble for Vidi. I'm happy that it finally happened here, as I've managed to score at least one hatrick in all my previous clubs, and each of them is special for me for some reason. My three goals against DVTK, which I scored in Kaposvár colours, are unforgettable because they were my first. After that I had a long break, I had to wait almost 6 years for another treble. The special thing about the treble against Cracovia was that I scored all three goals with my weaker leg. Fortunately, I didn't have to wait years for another three goals after that, and a few months later I scored three more against Zawisza in the Polish Cup semi-final. In December 2016, I also scored a treble against Gornik, a very emotional game as it was my last time playing for Legia. Fortunately, I also managed to score a hatrick in America, and at the best time, because at the end of the season I had a huge fight with David Villa for the title of top goal scorer and scored three goals in the last round for Philadelphia, which made me the top goal scorer. I think I've been able to succeed in all my club teams because I've always set myself ambitious but achievable goals and I've done my best to achieve them. As I've said many times, I didn't come to Vidi to run down the rest of my career. As always, I set myself ambitious goals, both at team and individual level. I'm very close to setting and then breaking József Szabó's NB I club record for Vidi. Unfortunately, I have only managed to score one goal in the first 11 rounds, which is far below my expectations, but I am still very motivated, I have never had to miss a training session due to injury or illness, I work very hard every day and I know that the hard work will pay off in the remaining 22 games. I've been competing for the top scorer title every season, I'm not giving up now, I believe in myself and the team and I know that the time will come when I can help Vidi score league goals again." - commented Niko.
